Past and Current  SBIR/STTR Phase Zero and Double Zero Award Recipients
119 awards totaling $398,150 have been awarded to date.

The Kentucky Science & Engineering Foundation (KSEF) announces Kentucky SBIR/STTR Phase 0, a grant program available to Kentucky’s small businesses, university-affiliated small businesses, and college and university faculty entrepreneurs.  These funds are earmarked for the development of Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) proposals for submission to any of eleven participating federal agencies. The goal of the SBIR/STTR Phase 0 program is to help Kentucky’s new and existing small businesses and college and university faculty compete more effectively and increase participation in federal SBIR and STTR programs by providing a grant to develop concepts and to prepare high-quality, competitive proposals.

Application Instructions:
Please read  the Request for Proposals before submitting an application.

Online Submission Form:
To apply for an SBIR or STTR grant, use the online application form.

  • In addition to the online application,  biographies and letters of intent must be submitted electronically to: Debbie Rempfer   drempfer@kstc.com
  • Hard copies of all electronically submitted material must also be mailed to KSEF

Suggestions for Preparing the Application:
Prior to entering your information in the online application, you may want to print a copy of the form to prepare your responses.  It is recommended that you create your responses offline in a separate word processing program (1) to retain a back-up copy of your text and (2) for ease in preparing paragraph length responses. This text may then be entered into the online form by cutting and pasting into the given text boxes.

Some tips for printing the online application form using your web browser's print features:
Under File in the toolbar, Page Setup will allow you to adjust the print margins (set Left and Right to zero if possible). Print Preview will allow you to determine how many pages will print and if the margins allow all text to be seen. Print generates the paper copy.
