KSEF Event: Phase I Workshop, General Focus (Jim Greenwood)

SBIR/STTR Phase I Workshop - August 29, 2017

August 29, 2017 (Tuesday), 8:00 AM-5:00 PM
with Jim Greenwood at the University of Louisville*

R&D for small business? Learn important details on how to use SBIR/STTR Programs to develop your technology and become involved in this $2.5 Billion federal program.

This workshop, organized by the Kentucky Science and Engineering Foundation, will be led by SBIR advisor and writing coach Jim Greenwood (speaker bio). Jim has over 30 years of SBIR experience and is known for providing detailed, high-quality information to help you succeed in  SBIR. In addition, Jim will offer workshop attendees a free review of your proposal by GCGI, valued at $1,000.

About the Workshop

  • This workshop begins with a strong overview of the SBIR (Small Business Innovation Research) and STTR (Small Business Technology Transfer Research) Programs.
  • It continues with a discussion of the SBIR/STTR Reauthorization, with an emphasis on the most important changes to the programs that you need to know about.
  • It will then transition into an extended presentation on a simple but comprehensive four-step process for developing a credible and competitive Phase I proposal. That process starts with strategy, and the activities and questions that should be considered before the proposal is written. It continues with drafting, the proposal, focusing on what to emphasize in the text. The process continues with review, or getting a third party to go over the proposal before it is submitted, and debrief, which is learning from the feedback available once the agency has decided whether to fund the proposal.

Registration is only $35. Online registration includes presentation materials, lunch, refreshment breaks, and a free review of your proposal by Mr. Greenwood. In accordance with the Americans With Disabilities Act of 1990 and the Rehabilitation Act of 1993, reasonable accommodations for persons with disabilities will be made; please request at least two weeks in advance. Registration refunds will be available up to three weeks before the event; no refunds thereafter.
