The Research and Development Excellence Program (RDE) targets achieving excellence in science and engineering in Kentucky, through innovation and technology development in existing and emerging areas of research, by making proactive investments through a peer-reviewed competitive selection process.

In addition, beginning Fall 2016, the intent of the Kentucky Commercialization Fund (COMM) will be fulfilled under KSEF's RDE Awards (i.e., there will not be separate commercialization solicitations).

his program is managed by the Kentucky Science and Engineering Foundation (KSEF) at the Kentucky Science and Technology Corporation (KSTC). See "Program Instructions and Eligibility" for eligibility details under the current solicitation. Applicants must be up to date (i.e. not past due or in default) with all reporting requirements and deliverables for all KSTC-managed programs.

 Advance Notice: RDE-020
October 21, 2016 -- The Kentucky Science and Technology Corporation (KSTC) announces a new Request for Proposals (RFP) opening on or around November 18, 2016. This round of funding (KSEF's RDE-020), through the Research and Development Excellence Program, is open to scientists and engineers from accredited universities, colleges and other postsecondary institutions, and to small businesses in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Changes to the program guidelines will be posted the KSEF website. Consult the most current document and the upcoming RFP for details on maximum award size. The period of the grant request will not exceed 12 months.

Dates and Solicitations
Dates for new solicitations will be posted on this webpage at least two weeks ahead of the call. Email notifications go out to our mailing list at that same time. If you are not already on our Constant Contact "funding...opportunities subscribers" email list, consider submitting your information (click here) for the latest news and updates.

Application, Reporting, and Program Details: Updated 11/2015
Before initiating an application, be sure all reports and deliverables are current for all current and/or previous KSTC-managed programs. Each PI can review all of his/her RDE reporting deadlines via http://applications.kstc.com. Applicants who have been delinquent in submitting reports (both active and post-award) for current and/or previous KSTC-managed programs may not be invited to apply for future rounds of funding.
