The Kentucky Commercialization Fund (COMM) supports efforts made by faculty in Kentucky to commercialize a technology, product, or process that they have developed but not yet licensed.

Dates for new solicitations will be posted on this webpage at least two weeks ahead of the call. Email notifications go out to our mailing list at that same time. If you are not already on our Constant Contact "funding...opportunities subscribers" email list, you may want to consider submitting your information (click here) for the latest news and updates.

Eligibility for COMM

Accredited Kentucky universities and colleges may be eligible to apply. Faculty members having a regular appointment, and researchers with their own lab and funding, at any accredited Kentucky college or university are eligible to apply for COMM-017. Adjunct faculty members, post-doctoral fellows, or graduate students are not eligible to act as PI; however, they can work on a project if awarded to an eligible faculty member or researcher. Companies are not eligible to apply for COMM. See "Request for Proposals (RFP)" and "Instructions" for eligibility details under the current solicitation.

Dates are not set for a new call of COMM proposals for 2016.

Application and Reporting Site for COMM

Each PI can review all of his/her reporting deadlines by signing in to the online reporting system at for the Kentucky Commercialization Fund. Before initiating an application, be sure all reports and deliverables are current. Applicants who have been delinquent in submitting reports - including both active and post (annual professional activity and achievements reporting) for previous Kentucky Commercialization Fund and/or Research and Development Excellence awards - may not be invited to apply for future rounds of funding.
