About the Workshop

KSEF is organizing a Department of Defense-focused workshop to provide detailed instruction on preparing a proposal to meet the submission requirements of the DoD, including technical and commercialization plans, and navigating the submission process. Presented by DoD SBIR/STTR expert Becky Aistrup, the workshop will also cover:

  • SBIR/STTR Program basics and up-to-date information on the DoD Program
  • The differences between DoD components
  • Tips on how to identify a topic
  • The importance of talking to Technical Points of Contact during the pre-release period
  • Writing to meet the reviewers' expectations
  • Common pitfalls and how to avoid them

About the Speaker

Becky Aistrup, M.B.A., Managing Partner, BBC Entrepreneurial Training & Consulting (BBCetc) -- Becky joined BBCetc as a Principal Consultant in 2012, and became a Managing Partner and Co-Owner in October 2016. Prior to joining BBCetc, Becky was the SBIR/STTR Program Director for the Minnesota Science & Technology Authority. Becky's professional background includes over 30 years of experience working within the medical, devfense, aerospace, biotech, advanced materials and electronics industries, and consulting with technology companies on SBIR/STTR funding. Becky holds a B.A. degree in Chemistry from the University of Kansas, and an M.B.A. in Marketing Management from the University of Minnesota.

Site and Parking

The event site is the University of Louisville, 2210 South Brook Street, Shumaker Research Building, Room 139, Louisville, KY 40208. Off-campus visitors have a couple options for parking:

  • Park in the parking garage at 2126 South Floyd Street, with all-day parking at about $9 (credit cards only).
  • Alternatively, go to the UofL page (click here), create a guest account and purchase a one-day pass for $5, print the pass and put it on the vehicle's dash. This allows parking in any of the blue lots hear Shumaker.
